Questions and Answers about the NKBMA Pickin’ for Memory Bluegrass festival

Q. Is Pickin’ For Memory truly a non profit event?

A. Yes. The performers work at discounted rates and all staff are volunteers who believe in the Alzheimer’s cause.

Q. Is this a annual planned event?

A. This is a annual planned event. We have the campground to use in Sparta for the next five years with a option from that time.

Q. Is Alcohol allowed?

A. No. There is no alcohol or drugs allowed in the concert area. Security will be on the grounds to enforce this rule. This is a family oriented event and as such, alcohol will not be allowed.

Q. Will there be concessions available?

A. There will be soft drinks, water, etc. along  with food available for purchase. There will also be vendors with instruments, strings, tapes and CD’s available.

Q. Is jamming allowed?

A. Not only is it allowed, it is encouraged. There will be areas marked for jamming exclusive. Who knows, some of the main stage musicians may join in. The parking lot can also be used.

Q. Are golf carts and ATV’s allowed?

A. ATV’s are not allowed. There can be too much damage to the campground. Golf  carts will be allowed on approved roads and electrical campsites only. There will be a parking area close to the concert area so that no golf carts are in the concert area.

Q. How can I become a performer at next years Pickin’ For Memory?

A. In order to be considered, please submit a short resume, tape or CD. We are looking for up and coming bands for 2008. We will have an open stage at this years event, so that is a great way to be discovered. To register for open stage, contact us at info@nkbma.com

Q. I am a vendor, and I would like to be included?

A. Pickin’ For Memory is in search of vendors. We will only have one vendor for each item. Please contact us if interested in being a vendor at gmccain@fuse.net

Q. I would like to arrive early at the campgrounds. How early can I come and what is the charge?

A. Pickin’ For Memory has the campground reserved from Wednesday, June 20th thru Sunday June 24th.  Arrival on Wednesday or after is at festival rates. Arrivals earlier than Wednesday will be at normal campground cost. For normal campground rates please call the campground at 859-356-9859.

Q. Are the campsites assigned, or is it first come first serve basis?

A. Campers that were at the 2006 Pickin’ For Memory have the first chance to sign up for the following year. Any sites left will be sold first come first serve for the following year. For more information, email gmccain@fuse.net
